Dixie loved the Colorado Rocky Mountains and the rich history of her home state and its colorful pioneers. She also loved opera, ballet, the British royal family and enjoyed digging into her family genealogy. In her youth she traveled the country with her mother and stepfather, studied music and singing and sang with the Denver Classic Chorale. She was fascinated by various religious beliefs, particularly Episcopalian, Judaism and Latter Day Saints, which she often blended together into her own unique belief system.
Dixie was married five times, each of her marriages being an adventure in its own way.
Dixie is survived by her two sons, Edward and Ronald Peters, her brother, Ronald Conner and Grandson, Donovan Peters.
