AKERLEY, GERALD "GERRY" HARRIS - 1942- 2012 - Gerald "Gerry" Harris Akerley, 70, of Alma passed away suddenly on Friday, November 2nd, 2012 at the Moncton Hospital with his family by his side. Gerry was born in Waterside in 1942, the son of the late Norman and Eva (Cairnes) Akerley. Gerry worked at Fundy National Park until his retirement. He enjoyed playing music, cards and was very interested in local history. Gerry had a great sense of humour and loved to have a good laugh, he was known for his storytelling. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Paula (McKinley); children, Andrew (Wilma) of Berry Mills, Anthony (Myra) of Riverview, Denise (Tim) of Dartmouth, NS and Terry (Bonnie) of Riverview; his grandchildren, Kayla, Daniel, Brittany and Justin; sisters, Myra Elliott of Riverview, Norma Steeves of Edgett's Landing, Maxine Stevens of Lower Cape, Sharon Turner (Larry) of Carroll's Corner, NS and Linda Rossiter (Arnold) of Waterside. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and by all his extended family--The McKinley Family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Hewlitt, Winston"Dibby" and Orlie.
Honoring Gerry's own wishes there will be no funeral service. The family will be meeting with relatives and friends for a time of sharing memories and refreshments at the Albert County Funeral Home on Monday, November 5th, 2012 from 3:00- 5:00pm. Interment will be in the Waterside Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the NB Lung Association or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral Home.
