Helen Donovan, 86, of Cherry Valley, Calif., formerly of Crystal River, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Jerry Pettis V.A. Hospital in Loma Linda, Calif.

Born July 15, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to Casimar and Frances Zatarski, she moved to Crystal River in 1979 from Dolton, Ill.

Following the death of her husband, Donald Donovan Sr., in 2006, she moved to Cherry Valley, Calif.

Mrs. Donovan served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II and was awarded the American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and WAAC Service Ribbon. Following her service to her country, she dedicated her life to being a homemaker.

She enjoyed cooking, games, crafts, taking pictures and fundraising events.

She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Crystal River, the Altar and Rosary Society and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Donovan Sr., Aug. 18, 2006, two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Larry Donovan and wife Maureen of Homerglen, Ill., Michael Donovan and wife Lin of Cannonsburg, Pa., and Donald Donovan Jr. and wife Beverly of Schererville, Ind.; five daughters, Patricia Aspan of Cherry Valley, Calif., Elizabeth Hicks of Crystal River, Frances Flynn and husband Casey of Lecanto, Donna Kross and husband Bob of Appleton, Wis., and Joanne Gladd and husband Rick of Compton, Ill.; brother-in-law, Henry Skibinski of Chicago, Ill.; sister-in-law, Caroline Zatarski of Chicago, Ill.; 24 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
