Marlene Anderson

Kiel - Marlene E. Anderson, 75, of Kiel, passed Sunday evening January 28,2018 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a long battle with cancer. She is the former Marlene Schubert, born on June 13, 1942, daughter of the late Rudolph & Edna (Krause) Schubert. Marlene was the salutatorian of Elkhart Lake High School class of 1960. She also received the Golden Spade Award in 1959. She continued her education at UW-Sheboygan. Marlene had previously been married to Gene Henschel. On September 30, 1977 she married Gene Anderson in Sioux Falls, SD. Marlene retired from GTE after 25 years as a Regional Manager. After retiring, she worked with her husband Gene as consultants to GTE in Florida and Indiana. Marlene also worked with Century 21 realty from 1994- 1997. She was a passionate volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul Society of Kiel for many years & was currently serving as a board member. She was always willing to lend a helping hand especially if it meant she could spend time with her granddaughter. In her free time she enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking pies, and bird watching.

She is survived by her husband of 40 wonderful years, Gene, son, Jerrod (Toni) Henschel, Elkhart Lake, and their daughter, Sofia Henschel; step-daughter, Sharon (Michael) Curry, Kiel, and grandchildren: Michael (Monique) Curry and Carson Curry; step-daughter, Cindy (Jack) Rolbiecki, Kiel, and grandchildren: Shannon (Bryant Mason) Rolbiecki, and Justin Rolbiecki; step-son, Rick (Gary Waters) Anderson, Madison, step-son, Steven Anderson, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters: Berneda (Willy) Wittek, Derold (Yvonne) Schubert, Marlow Schubert, Arlis (Bernie) Henschel and Lucinda Schubert along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Jeffrey Henschel, brother, Myron Schubert, sister-in-law, Margie Schubert, nephew, Tim Feldmann, and great nephew, Taylor Feldmann.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Peter UCC (424 Fremont St.Kiel) with Michael Mathes, Licensed Lay Pastor officiating.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 3:00 pm until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.

Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home of Kiel is assisting with funeral arrangements.
