Francis Hubert Howlette was the 2nd child and first-born son of Charles William and Nellie Elizabeth (Vincent) Howlette. He was born in Cape Town, South Africa, where he father was stationed with the British Army. Along with his parents and 5 siblings, Francis traveled around the British Empire as his father was stationed in Ireland, South Africa and India. The family finally settled in Lancashire.

Hubert, as he was known to his family, served in the Royal Navy from 13 Jan 1914 to 17 Dec 1919. He served during World War I and was discharged as considered an Invalid from Navy War Service.

In September 1918, Francis Hubert married Clarissa Jenkins in Westbur4s S., Shropshire. She was the daughter of William and Emily (Brain) Jenkins. Hubert and Clarissa were the parents of 2 daughters, Mavis Pearl and Helen Henrietta.

By the 1939 Census Register, Francis and Clarissa were living in Paddington, Greater London.

Clarissa passed away on 10 Sep 1970, leaving Hubert a widower. In the 4th Quarter (Oct-Dec) of 1971, Francis Hubert Howlette married a 2nd time. His bride was Amelia Elsie Blackwell.

Francis Hubert Howlette died on the 4 Mar 1977. He was cremated on 9 Mar 1977 and his ashes buried in Lewisham.
