Ezekiel is the son of Charles Lawson Jinings and Elizabeth Bonnafield. Ezekiel left North Carolina by 1830 and moved to Overton County, TN where his brothers John and Samuel Jinings had moved to previously. Ezekiel married twice, first to Polly Mabery and later to Sarah Killman. Ezekiel sold his land in Tennessee about 1853 and moved to Cumberland County, Kentucky, to a tract of land located on Sulphur Creek. In his will, Ezekiel gave the children of his first marriage (five) one dollar each and the rest of his property to his then wife Sarah, with whom he had ten children.

Ezekiel is likely buried on this land, somewhere along Sulphur Creek, which extends eastward from Celina Road, under Paul Willis Road and into a northern finger of Dale Hollow Lake. It's possible that Ezekiel could otherwise be buried on what was the Jennings farm near Mill Creek to the East.
