OBITUARY-THE PAWNEE CHIEF
JULY 18, 1913

DAVID LASHER

"Uncle Dave" Lasher, and old and respected citizen of DuBois and vicinity, passed away peacefully away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lewis Britt, in this city last Monday morning at 6 o'clock. During the past five years Mr. Lasher has been totally blind and in almost a helpless condition. Since his afflication he has been making his home with his daughter, who did all that loving hearts could do to make his last days on earth full of peace and contentment.
As we remember "Uncle Dave" years ago, he was a man to whom everyone was a friend to everyone; a man who lived at peace with the world and all mankind.
David Lasher was born at Newton Center, Pennsylvania October 4, 1834, and died in DuBois, Nebraska July 7, 1913. He was united in marriage to Miss Malinda J. Sickler July 1, 1861. To this union three children were born, two of whom died in infancy. The remaining son, D. A. Lasher, now lives at Wymore, Nebr. With his wife a child Mr. Lasher moved to Nemaha county, Kansas in April, 1869, where his wife died May 28, 1870. He was again married February 23, 1871, to Miss Margaret Willman. To this union were born five children, William Lasher, of Holyoke, Colo., Mrs. Elizabeth Caswell, Mrs. Lillie Britt and Mrs. Katherine Kelly, of DuBois, one daughter having died in infancy. His wife preceded him to the great beyond January 6, 1889.
Besides the five children named he leaves to mourn his death fifteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Crom at the home at 10 o'clock, and interment was had in the Cincinnati cemetery.
