Harvey V. Hill is son of the late Rev. John and Pearl Hill was born in Rusk County, Texas July 24, 1914. He attended the Rusk County public schools, Bishop College in Marshall, Texas and graduated from Texas Baptist Institute, Henderson, Texas. His grandfather, the Rev. Felix C. Hill, was also a Cumberland Presbyterian minister. Harvey married Alma M. King on October 27, 1934. To this union three children were born. He was ordained into the East Texas Presbytery by Rev. Felix Hill, Rev. J. P. Hampton, Rev. George Tribble and Rev. S. L. Hill. He pastored Pine Grove C. P. Church (from 1944 to 1992); St. Bettie Chapel C. P. Church, Henderson; Rock Hill C. P. Church, Jacksonville; and Tyler Memorial C. P. Church, Tyler. Rev. Hill was a member of Jupiter Star Masonic Lodge No. 292 for many years.

Reverend H. V. Hill was a minister of the gospel for 48 years, and served the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in various capacities. He was Moderator of the East Texas Presbytery. He was a charter member of and served as President of the J. E. Dixon Extension Board, in which capacity he was serving at the time of his death. He also served as Clerk of the East Texas Presbytery and Presbyterial Board; Moderator of the Texas Synod; Dean of the State Sunday School Convention and also as a member of the Board of Missions and Evangelism on the National level.
