Husband of Constance C. Ryan of Eureka. Father of James M. Ryan of Eureka, Deborah J. Ryan and Mrs. Patricia C. Crivello of Eureka. Cousin of Mrs. George Dyhevik of Staughton, Wisc., and Sister Immacula Lynch of Sparta, Wisc. Nephew of Leon Sean Ian, Thomas Lynch and Joseph Enright of Lanesboro, Minn. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Frances Ryan.

A native of Kansas City, Mo. Age 53. He came to California and Humboldt County at an early age, joining the Eureka Volunteer Fire Dept. 2 in 1939, later becoming a paid member of the Eureka Fire Dept. in June of 1950. He retired in 1964 due to ill health with the rating of Engineer, and then went to work for the Bank of America until 1969. A veteran of W.W. II, serving with the 102nd Battalion, See Bees, of the U.S. Navy. He also served in the Pacific Theater, where he received several commendations. He left the service with the rating of Boatswain Mate I.

Services will be held at the Chapel of the Ferns Cooper Mortuary, Monday, May 11, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Scott of the Eureka First Baptist Church officiating. Concluding services will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery with member of both the Eureka and Volunteer Fire Depts. as honor guard.
