Charles William Thomas, 84, of Lake Murvaul, TX., passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007, at East Texas Medical Center, Carthage, TX. He was born February 9, 1923, in Boswell, OK., the son of Ancil and Josephine (Sutton) Thomas.

Charles married Hazel Stell on July 13, 1941, in Boswell, OK., and the couple celebrated over sixty years of marriage. She preceded him in death in October, 2001. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Ranger. Charles worked in the logging industry and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancil and Josephine Thomas; one brother, Labon Thomas.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory, four sons, Clayton Thomas and wife Kathryn, Lake Murvaul, TX., Ray Thomas and wife Charlotte, Broken Bow, Curtis Thomas, Broken Bow, and Rodger Thomas, Quitman, TX.; two daughters, Charlene (Thomas) Dale, Broken Bow, and Phyllis (Thomas) Franklin, Lake Murvaul, TX.; one sister, Lenora Leard, Longview, TX.; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; eight great, great grandchildren; one niece, Kathy Payne, Lake Murvaul, TX.; one nephew, Kim Leard, Longview, TX.; and several other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tony Dale, Billy Dale, Bobby Dale, Shawn Lane, Jared Woolf, and Jacob Woolf.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2007, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, with Billy (Bo) Dale officiating.

Interment will follow at Hochatown Cemetery, Hochatown, OK.
