She graduated in 2003 from Charles Herbert Flowers High School where she was in ROTC, played soccer, and was a cheerleader. She had intended to study art in college, but instead enlisted in the US Army in 2004. She was stationed in Iraq as an intelligence officer and died during her first deployment when the enemy attacked using indirect fire. Among her military awards and decorations were the Bronze Star; Purple Heart; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism (Expeditionary) Medal; Global War on Terrorism (Service) Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; and the Army Aviation Badge.

She was survived by her mother; her husband of one year; her brother; her two grandfathers; a grandmother; a great-grandmother; two aunts; one uncle; and many other relatives.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Friday, August 31, 2007, at Jericho City of Praise, Landover, MD, followed by interment on August 31, 2007.
