Duke Alexander Paul Ludwig Konstantin of Württemberg was the son of Duke Louis of Württemberg, a brother of King Frederick I of Württemberg and Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia, and his second wife, Princess Henriette of Nassau-Weilburg, daughter of Charles Christian, Duke of Nassau-Weilburg, and Princess Carolina of Orange-Nassau. He was married morganatically on May 2, 1835 to Countess Claudine Rhédey von Kis-Rhéde, by whom he had three children. Through his son, Francis, Duke of Teck, he was the paternal grandfather of Mary of Teck, the Queen Consort of King George V of the United Kingdom.
