Genevieve "Genny" Goddard, 81, of Orlando, FL passed away suddenly Tuesday March 31, 2020 at AdventHealth Care Center Orlando North. Genevieve was born in New Lexington, Ohio on July 7, 1938 to the late Albert Gilbert, Jr. and Jennie Annetta Granfell Taylor. She married James R Goddard in Ohio on December 21, 1962 and then relocated to the Orlando, FL area. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James, of 33 years on September 21, 1995.
A loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Genny was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family. Her specialty was homemade chicken and dumplings and no one could make dumplings as delicious as mom could. During the holidays she enjoyed making our favorites such as peanut butter fudge, lemon cookies and fruit salad. Genny was a Den Mother/Troup Leader for the Boy and Girl Scouts and enjoyed camping with the family. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked an Emergency Room Nurse and a private duty nurse for many years. In her later years she worked as a Hostess for the Holiday House restaurant. She enjoyed watching Bones and NCIS on television, as well as any of the Star Wars and Lord of The Rings movies. Genny always enjoyed going to the Greyhound track, not just to bet, but to watch the dogs run. Most of all she enjoyed going to the Hardrock Casino in Tampa and playing her favorite penny slot machine. She never spent much or won much but enjoyed every minute trying her luck. Mom loved the simple things in life and was a very loving, caring, and giving person and always had time for her family.
Genny is survived by four children; Tim Goddard of Tennessee, Tammy Rife (Claud) of Tennessee; twins, James Goddard II and John Goddard of Orlando, Fl. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle Rife (Kelly) of Tennessee and Megan Rife of Tennessee; plus one great-grandchild, Maxon Rife of Tennessee, whom she loved very much.
Genny spent the last 25 years in the loving care of her sons, James and John Goddard. The family gives them their greatest and warmest gratitude for watching over her.
A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Genny's life, will be held at a later date when it is deemed safe to do so due to Covid-19.
