According Shumway genealogy: Columbus Graduate of Amherst college and at Union Theological Seminary New York; resided Townsend , Massachusetts where he settled over the congregational church; at the time of his death he was a pastor in Worcester; married Catherine F Fowler ( she is from Montgomery Massachusetts b unlnown d. March 5 1889) Marriage date: Sept. 10, 1835.He was a member of Adelphiac society . Is the father of 3 children Sarah Hart born February 26, 1837 John Fowler Shumway born August 26, 1839 George Columbus Shumway born June 1846 died may 1847. Unfortunately my 4th great Uncle Reverend Columbus had passed away of Peritonitis. Have you been living in modern times he would have survived. MEANWHILE Please note that North Adams MA did not become a city on its own until after 1871 when it split off from Adams Massachusetts - Shumway genealogy has Columbus being born in " North Adams" Meanwhile, www.familysearch.org says his full name (believe it or not) is Christopher Columbus Shumway
