Sexton burial record says this child died age 18 months, but the newspaper says he was 11 months. Died at the resident of H. J. Smith in Columbus. Son of William H. and Martha E. (Smith) Pruden, who married October 10, 1850 in Randolph County, GA. They were in Clay County, GA, on the 1860 census.

COLUMBUS, GA: Lists of People, 1828-1852, and Sexton's Reports to 1866 by Mary Jane Galer (published 2000), on page 212 says a child of William Pruden died age 18 months (cause of death not reported) was buried between July 1 & October 1, 1857 (from July 1 to October 1, 1857, Sexton's Report, presented October 5, 1857); the Sexton at the time was Thomas Nix. Specific burials dates were not reported for this quarter, but the entries appear to be in chronological order. From other sources, we know that the entry immediately preceding died on September 9, 1857, and the entry immediately following died September 11, 1857, and we also know from the newspaper that this child died on September 10. John H. Martin’s history of Columbus, Volume 2, p. 101 confirms

This grave probably has no inscribed marker.
