American Race Car Driver. He competed in his first race in 1911 with a stock Mercer at the Inter-City Road Race in Tacoma, Washington where he finished in third place. In 1912 he won two road events, one being a 750 mile drive from Seattle, Washington to Vancouver, British Columbia and back. In 1913 he became a mechanic on the Mercer factory team which included Ralph DePalma, Barney Oldfield, and Eddie Pullen, primarily working for driver Eddie Pullen until 1916 when he was promoted to driver. He competed thrice in the Indianapolis 500, finishing twice in the top 10. He finished in 8th place after 200 laps in 1920 and 10th place in 1922. In 1921 he finished 22nd after completing only 25 laps due to a crash. In 1920 he drove a race car in the silent film "What's Your Hurry?" starring Wallace Reid.
