Evelyn Addington, 79, of Plain View, Va. entered into the arms of Jesus on May 26, 2020.
Evelyn was a longtime member of Gospel Light House Worship Center, and her church friends were like family to her. She loved to travel all over the world spreading the gospel of Jesus. Evelyn often visited nursing homes and hospitals to pray with the patients; her strong faith was truly the basis for everything in her life, and she was always ready to pray with anyone that needed it. Evelyn also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; Isaac Addington, parents; Herbert and Retha Dixon, step-mother; Elsie Dixon, brothers; James Dixon, Herbert Dixon, and an infant brother, Woodrow Dixon.
Evelyn is survived by her children; Debbie Milby-Riggs (Tom), Paul “Noodles” Smolich (Laura), Rhonda Walton (Franklin), Anthony “Bubba” Smolich (Donna), step-daughter; Sharon Fogarty (Jim), sisters; Betty Horsley, Carolyn Harlow, Joanie Ayers, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved extended church family.
A graveside service will be held 11am Saturday, May 30th at Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3727 Buena Vista Rd., Shacklefords, Va. Due to COVID-19, the family asks anyone attending to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. There will be a full celebration of life at a later date.
