He was a son of William Thomas Clem and Mary Ellen Green. On April 11, 1934 he married Mildred Ava Stephenson (1908-1988) at Meade County, South Dakota.
They had three children: James Beryl Clem, Willa Dean Clem and Joyce M. Clem.

John B. Clem Dies in Los Angeles

John B. Clem, 35, Broken Bow, died at Los Angeles, Calif., at 11:45 a. m. Thursday.
He was in defense work there at the time of his death. A native of Texas, he had resided in Broken Bow many years. He was a member of the Christian church of Broken Bow.
Funeral services were scheduled for 2:30 p. m. today (Wednesday) at the Brokeb Bow Christian church with Rev. R. A. Highsmith officiating. The Stamps sisters will furnish the music.
Interment will be in Broken Bow cemetery under direction of Coffey funeral home.
He is survived by his widow; one son, James B. Clem, and two daughters, Willow Dean and Joyce Marie Clem, all of Broken Bow; two brothers, W. L. Clem, Kiamath Falls, Ore., and Paul W. Clem, Tulsa; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Davis and Mrs. Roy Love, both of Tulsa; two half-sisters, Mrs. Evie Green, Burnet, Tex., and Mrs. Donie Ethredge, Brownwood, Tex., and his mother, Mrs. Mary Williams, Tulsa.

Last Rites For John B. Clem Held Wednesday

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Christian church here for John B. Clem, who died August 31 from a head aliment.
Mr. Clem was born May 18, 1909, at Miller Grove, Texas, and lived there until he was seventeen. He came to Broken Bow in 1929 and joined the U.S. Army in 1930, in which he spent six years at Ft. Meade, South Dakota. He was married April 11, 1933, to Mildred A. Stephenson of this city at Sturges, S. D., living there until 1936.
He had been following defense work for several years and passed away in Torrance, Calif., where he was employed in the Colship yard.
He had been a member of the Presbyterian church since he was 11 years old.
He is survived by his wife; one son, James Byrle; two daughters, Willa Dean and Joyce Marie; mother, Mrs. Mary Williams, Tulsa; two sisters, Mrs. Roy Davis and Mrs. Roy Love, both of Tulsa; two brothers, W. L. of Kiamath Falls, Ore., and Paul W. of Tulsa; two half sisters, Mrs. Evie Green, Burnette, Texas, and Mrs. Donie Ethredge, Brownwood, Tex.; and two nieces and two nephews.
