Born and raised on the family cattle ranch west of Cascade. Graduated from Cascade High School in 1921. Earned a bachelor's degree in 1926 from the University of Montana, majoring in home economics and minoring in chemistry and history. Taught history, economics and home economics from 1926 to 1929 at Conrad High School.

Married Army serviceman LeRoy H. Anderson of Conrad on October 18, 1929. They lived in California, Tennessee, New York and Pennsylvania as well as Washington D.C. from 1956 to 1960, while he was in the House of Representatives. She was secretary of the Congressional Wives Club. Eventually returning to Conrad where they managed their wheat and cattle ranch.

During World War II, she headed the Office of Price Administration in Pondera County. In 1953, she was chairwoman of the Pondera County Historical Pageant.

Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nil, Midway Extension Club, Montana Women's Club and the Democratic Women's Club, and held several officer positions.

Belong to the Presbyterian Session, the United Presbyterian Women and was a deacon in the United Presbyterian Church.

In 1990 received the Order of Joan D'Arc from the U.S. Armor Association in recognition of her contributions to military life.

Survived by a daughter, three grandsons and nine great-granchildren.

Preceded by a son, Douglas, and her husband in 1991.
