Clare appears in the 1920 and 1930 US Censuses for Los Angeles as a married boarder, living with unrelated boarders. Apparently her husband's duties in the navy kept him often at sea. In the 1940 US Census for Los Angeles, "Clare M" (apparently for maiden name Miller) and "David Evans" appear finally living together. There is no evidence that they had children before the 1940 US Census was taken.
Apparently Clare remarried someone with the surname West before she died.
