STURGIS - Services for former teacher Hannah Willams Burdick, 79, Sturgis, will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Sturgis with the Rev. Jack Whetzel officiating. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of the F.O. Jolley Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established.
Mrs. Burdick died Monday at the Sturgis Community Memorial Hospital. She was born Jan. 16, 1904, at Bonesteel to James and Mary Elizabeth Williams. She attended school In Bonesteel and Aberdeen State Teachers College at Aberdeen. On June 13, 1928, she married George Nelson Burdick at Whitewood.
Mrs. Burdick taught school in Meade and Lawrence counties until retiring in 1966. She had lived in Sturgis since.
She was a member and past matron of the Moto Paha chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, president of the World War I Widows, treasurer of the American Association of Retired Persons, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Presbyterian Women's Association.
She is survived by one son; two daughters; three sisters; one brother; seven grandchildren, seven greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband In 1973, two sisters and one brother.
