"The Sabbath Recorder", Vol 25, No 14, p 55, Apr. 1, 1869.

In Brookfield, N. Y., March 15th, 1869, of diphtheria, Angie, only daughter of Calvin and Emeline B, Whitford, aged 13 years, 8 months, and 27days. Our youthful sister embraced Christ as her all-sufficient Saviour last winter, while living at Morrisville. On removing to Brookfield, last spring, she consecrated herself to Christ, in company with fifteen others, in the waters of a holy baptism, and union with the Second Seventh-day Baptist Church. She was a leader among her associates. She stood high as a student in the Academy, and was a much beloved scholar in class No. 5 in the Sabbath-school. The prayer-meetings, especially of the young people, have been her delight. She was almost invariably present, tp pray and speak of her love to Christ. She earnestly prayed for, and sought, the salvation of her uncoverted friends and associates. Nor were the home duties of obedience to parents, and love to her little twin brothers, forgotten. A home is bereaved. The church has lost a faithful sister of much promise. The Sabbath-school mourns her early departure. The teachers and students of the Academy gave expression to their grief by attending her funeral in a body, and singing Bradbury's beautiful stanzas, "Over the Tide." We lay her down in hope, for Jesus, her Saviour, has said, "I am the resurrection and the life." J. M. T.
