A native of Dresden, Germany, Heinrich Hartmut Richard Gustav "Henry" Arnhold was born on Sept 15, 1921 to Heinrich Gustav Arnhold and Elise Lise Mattersdorff. Following the death of his father in 1935 in Dresden, Germany, Henry, his sister, Ruth Irene Arnhold and their mother, Elise Lise Mattersdorff Arnhold initially immigrated to Brazil in 1939. They then relocated to the United States, with Henry becoming an Investment Banker. He served in the U S Army during World War II, training in Co. A, 60th Infantry Battalion, at Camp Wolters, Texas. He filed a Petition for Naturalization on June 10, 1945 and was granted U S Citizenship.
Henry married Clarisse Elizabeth de Janosi, a native of Hungary, on April 28th, 1947 and the couple lived in Connecticut, raising their children n America. They were blessed with two children. Their daughter, Michelle Elizabeth Arnhold, was born in 1951 and died in 2007. Clarisse died on Jan 20, 2013 and Henry died in New York on August 23, 2018. The Arnholds are buried at Wolfpit Cemetery in Bethel, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Henry and Clarisse established a fund which contributes to the Public Broadcasting's "Nature"; an announcement is made at the beginning of each episode. Considering the quality of the program, it is a wonderful way to be remembered. May they Rest in Eternal Peace together, in Paradise.
