Certificate Number: 1218Francis Mc Donnell, the son of Anna McDonnell and Arthur McDonnell, a Staten Island police officer, was an eight year old child who disappeared while playing with his brother, Albert, and three friends in July of 1924. His body was found by three Scouts; he had been brutally beaten and strangled with his own suspenders.

Francis was yet another victim of Albert Fish, who had been responsible for a string of child abductions and homicides in the New York area around this time, most significantly the murder of 10 year old Grace Budd the following year. Fish had been seen with Francis shortly before his disappearance.

Fish was eventually arrested in connection to Grace Budd's murder and other crimes, convicted, and was executed at Sing Sing prison on January 16, 1936.

A few days before he died in the electric chair, Fish admitted to the murders of Francis McDonnell and 4 year old Billy Gaffney.
