Douglas was born in York on October 10, 1943, the son of Ruth B. (Kendig) Baublitz of York and the late Russell W. Baublitz. He graduated in 1961 from West York Area High School and from Lock Haven University in 1965.
He was employed by the West York Area School District, retiring in 1997 after 30 years of service as a teacher and coach.
He was also a member of the York County Dutchmen's Hunting Club and a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in York.
Besides his wife and mother, Douglas also leaves a son, Seth D. Baublitz, D.O. and his wife Laleh Radfar-Baublitz, D.O. of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Jennie-Corinne R. Baublitz, D.O. of Ambler, Montgomery County and Livia K. Baublitz, D.O. of Cockeysville, Md.; and a granddaughter, Ariana Sage Baublitz.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his memory to Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Road, York, PA 17404; or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Office of Donor Services, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, N.Y., 10605; or to the West York Dollars for Scholars, 2605 W. Market St., York, PA 17404.
Following cremation, there will be a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 250 Trinity Road, York, with his pastors, the Rev. Paul W. and Sara A. Gausmann officiating. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. The Irwin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 175 N.
