BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
By Gale Boetius Perez, Find a Grave Member 47724849

Daisy was born October 24, 1918 in Helligånds Sogn, Copenhagen and baptized on July 27, 1919 at Skt Jakob Sogn, Sokkelund Herred, Copenhagen. Her parents were Edith Christensen and Johannes Christian Boetius.

Johannes, Edith and Daisy lived at Classensgade 9 in Copenhagen. Johannes moved out on November 1, 1919 and then emigrated to America, arriving in New York on May 16, 1920 with the stated intention to make America his permanent residence. His second daughter with Edith, Lillian, was born about four months after he left Edith. In 1930, Johannes married my grandmother, Olive Kullgren, who was unaware of his wife and children in Denmark. Their child Paul (my father) was born in 1933. We had an old family tree made by my father's Danish cousin which showed a first marriage and two children, but it had no names or dates, and it was only in the year 2020 that I was able to locate their descendants. Unfortunately, by then Daisy and Lillian - my half-aunts - had passed away.

To resume with Daisy's story: her mother Edith's sister Helga arrived from Nykøbing on May 1, 1919 to stay with Edith, Johannes and Daisy. As mentioned, Johannes left the household on Nov. 1, 1919. Edith, Helga and the girls left on May 1, 1920 and a 1921 record shows that they now lived on Falkonerallé.

By the 1925 census, Edith, Daisy and Lillian had moved to Hornstrup, a hamlet in Vejle (East Jutland) where they lived with Edith's parents. Agnes owned a shop in Vejle called Java-Boden. Daisy was confirmed on April 2, 1933 at St. Nicolai in Vejle.

On March 10, 1940, Daisy married Niels Frederik Petersen in Hornstrup. They separated in the late 1940s. Daisy initially moved to Copenhagen, and then moved to Mallorca where she worked as a tourist guide.

And after some years, Daisy returned to Denmark and lived with her sister Lillian in Copenhagen for a short time before she passed away, perhaps in the early 1960s. Her date of passing is being researched.
