William Curtis Stoner Jr. age 94 of Birmingham died Friday, June 12 at Saint Martin's In The Pines. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 pm CT at Corner Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randall Stoner and Rev. Alex Obeneder officiating. Burial will follow in Pea Ridge Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Ider American Legion Honor Guard.
Survivors include children, Charlotte Head(Mickey), Randall Stoner(Vicki), Charlotte Lightsey(Layne), Michael Stoner(Karen), grandchildren, Karen Searles(David), Forrest Head(Mamie), Heather Snively(Josh), Scott Blackburn(Carrie), Jessica Taylor(Shannon), Amanda Williams(Marty), Kristin Acquistapace(Blake), Christopher Stoner(Kathryn), Andrew Stoner(Bethany), 19 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Stoner was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Air Force. He worked as a Research Scientist with Southern Research Institute in Birmingham before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Curtis and Mattie Elizabeth Biddle Stoner, wife of 65 years, Girtha Lee Stone, brother, Charles Collins Stoner and sister, Willie Ruth Berhman.
