The Arkansas City Daily Traveler, Tuesday, April 15, 1930, page 16. "James Alfred McAlpin dies at the age of 73."
"James Alfred McAlpin died at his home, 105 North Eleventh street at 8 o'clock last night. He was 73 years old and he and his wife have lived in Arkansas City since 1918, moving here from Mangum, Oklahoma. Mr. McAlpin was born in Salina, Tennessee and has been a member of the Christian Church since he was 19 years old. He is survived by his widow, one son Lynn of Willow, Oklahoma, and 3 daughters, Mrs. Mamie Hargrove and Mrs. Iva Hargrove of this city and Mrs. Floy York of Oklahoma City and one brother George W. McAlpin of Mansville, Oklahoma.
Funeral services had not been completed at noon today other than that the Rev. C.D. Walker will officiate. Grant funeral home is in charge."
