A native of Jackson County, he lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He was a member, former deacon and Sunday school teacher at Glady Baptist Church.
He was a son of the late Joseph and Mamie Mills Woods and was also preceded in death by his son, Randall Woods.
Surviving are his wife, Vestia Woods of the home; daughter, and husband, of Candler; daughter-in-law of Asheville; son, Stanley Woods; sister, Barbara Hill; brothers, Tommy and Wesley Woods; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Sprinkle and Greg Warren officiating.
Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
