Anthony Lee "Tony" Sobel, De Pere, age 52,passed away Monday, February 6, 2012

Born in Manitowoc, WI on July 21,1950, Tony was the last and most spirited of five children. He attended St. Paul School in Manitowoc and later St. Agnes School when his parents relocated to Green Bay. Tony graduated from Premontre High School in 1977 where he was active in radio, basketball and photography. He was the recipient of the John F. Kennedy Citizen Award and was class Vice President. His entrepreneurial spirit carried him through many careers including Time Warner, Best Buy, Budget Rent a Car, Boondocks and Greenfield Furniture. Tony stared death in the eye many times and triumphed. He was a fighter. He was a loving brother, son and loyal friend gifted with a quick wit, sharp tongue, an easy-going disposition and a stubborn spirit. He touched many lives, but more importantly many lives touched him. He was so fortunate to have generous, loving family members and friends who supported him throughout his life.

In June 2005, Tony was fortunate to get another chance at life when he was the recipient of a liver transplant through UW Health Systems, Madison. Thank you to the generous family and organ donors everywhere for this selfless gift of life.

Survivors include two brothers: Brother Fidelis Joseph Sobel, Akron, Ohio, Pat (Irina) Sobel, Chandler, AZ; two sisters: Pam Lieber, Springfield, VA and Michele Petska Of Green Bay. Nieces and nephews: Elizabeth, Catherine, Julia and Nicholas Sobel, Arizona; Rachel and Jake Lieber, Virginia; Kim Linder, Milwaukee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sobel, his mother, Rosemary Lemke, his stepfather, Curtis Lemke, maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11 at Lyndahl Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com.

Our deepest gratitude to his amazing friends, Mike and Carolyn Vanhandel, Dennis and Nancy Haskell and family who loved and supported him unconditionally. The family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice and CNA Judy for their care and compassion. We will miss you Tony. The ache in our hearts is deep, but we find comfort in knowing you are now at peace and healthy in God's grace.

A memorial fund has been established in Tony's name.
