Donnie Ellis, 92, passed away at his home in Huntsville Sunday, June 14, 2020. His funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Rev. Reagan Cooksey will officiate the service. Mr. Ellis will be laid to rest in Evans Chapel Cemetery in Leona, Texas. A brief visitation will take place before the service Saturday from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at the funeral home.

Donnie Compton Ellis was born February 6, 1928 in Leon County, Texas to parents, George Compton & Opal (Newsom) Ellis. He was a graduate of Centerville High School in Centerville, Texas and served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a military policeman. Donnie later worked as a clerk for the postal service until his retirement. Donnie was an expert woodworker and enjoyed spending time with his late wife, Bobbie, on their porch watching the deer. He was a fifty year resident of Huntsville and had resided for a brief time in Killeen and Bryan.

Donnie was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Bobbie Ellis; daughter, Paula (Ellis) Moore and several siblings. He is survived by son & daughter-in-law, Rick & Dottie Ellis of Huntsville; son-in-law, Johnny Moore of Franklin; brother, Garvin Ellis & wife, Mildred of Centerville; grandchildren, John Paul Moore & wife, Lindsey of College Station, Jeff Moore of the DFW/Metroplex, Dana Lowery & husband, Matt of Crockett, Presley Ellis & fiance, Zach Leger of Rosenberg and Billy Stockton of Waco and great-grandchildren, Aubrey & Wyatt, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & beloved friends.
