Phyllis Joan Barber, 81, Logansport, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2007, in Chase Center.

Born May 9, 1925, she was the daughter of Lowell and Geraldine Forgey. On March 1, 1946, she was married to Gayle E. Barber. He preceded her in death October 19, 1990.

A 1943 graduate of Logansport High School, Joan and her late husband owned and operated the former Barber's Sewing Supplies store on East Broadway. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the former Fidelity Chapter No. 58 Order of Eastern Star and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sandy Barber, of Louisville, Kentucky, and grandsons Matt, Mike and Jeff Barber, and great-granddaughters, Brianna and Brooke Barber; son John Barber, of Bass Lake, Indiana, and grandchildren Sara and Joseph Barber; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Gary Ramer,of Galveston and grandchildren Adam and David Ramer; one brother, Douglas Forgey, Logansport; and four sisters, Jean Brown, Lafayette, Kay McCombs, Lithia, Florida, Sandy Cross, Kokomo and Diane Wulfmyer, Fenton, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her step-mother, Jane Buchanan Forgey, and one grandson, Matthew Ramer.


Funeral Information
Friends may call from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18th in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, with Pastor Larry Zehring. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
