MRS. ADAMS

OPELIKA - Services for Mrs. Leola Burdette Adams, 93, of Opelika will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 at Hall Memorial CME Church with the Rev. Morris E. Lewis officiating and Pastor P.K. Primm assisting. Burial will follow in the Hall Memorial CME Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams passed away on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at the home of her granddaughter and care-taker, Mariette Moody.

She was a long term member of Hall Memorial CME Church, where she served as a stewardess for many years.

Mrs. Adams was born Aug. 12, 1914, to the late Lizzie Burdette Adams and Allen Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Adams Sr., and her son, Frank Adams Jr.

Mrs. Adams is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Christine (Nick) Nixon of Opelika; a son, Johnnie Lee Adams of Bessemer, Ala; two daughters-in-law, June Adams of Lanett and Mariam Adams of Atlanta; one son-in-law, Willie M. McGhee of Valley; seven grandchildren, Kendall (Casandra) Adams and Sonja Adams, both of Lanett, Sharon (Major) Gooden of Spain, Lisa Gray and Quentin McGhee, both of Atlanta, Mariette (William) Moody of Opelika and Talydia Walker of Texas; two sisters, Jimmie Ruth Burdette and Mattie Lou Hodges, both of Atlanta; and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
