William F. Landers Jr., 87, of Worcester, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 in the UMass-Memorial Medical Center.

His wife of 53 years, Veronica G. (Dyer) Landers, died in 2003. He leaves four sons, William F. Landers III and his wife Theresa, Thomas M. Landers and his wife Gail, Brian J. Landers and his wife Helen, all of Worcester, and Jeffrey F. Landers and his wife Ingrid of Holden; his twin brother, John H. Landers of Worcester; a sister, Kathleen J. Midgley of Grafton; 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Jaclyn and Keith Landers, Patrick, Benjamin and Kristen Landers, Jarrod, Brendan, Connor and Mikayla Landers, and Brian and Robert Landers; and nephews and nieces. His sisters, Helen Landers, Mary E. McGrath and Marguerite E. Murphy, predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester, son of William F. and Josephine G. (O'Connell) Landers and lived in Worcester all his life. He summered on Cape Cod for many years.

He graduated from Commerce High School, and Worcester Junior College with a degree in Accounting.

Mr. Landers was a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran of World War II.

Mr. Landers worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, the Disabled American Veterans and the Postal Workers Union.

The funeral Mass was held Saturday, August 25 at Noon in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St., Worcester. Burial followed in St. John's Cemetery. There were no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Mass. Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester 01605.
