Mrs. Shelton was born to the late William and Mary Evalena Price.
Mrs. Shelton was raised in Tyler, Texas where she was the baby of 11 children. She was raised by a praying Momma whom all of her descendants have to thank for our Godly legacy. Martha met and married Billy Dolph Shelton at the age of 16. They were married for 54 years. After living in various places around the world, they came back to Texas in 1970 where they operated several Stuckey stores for many years. They then returned to Tyler, where Martha worked and retired from Carrier.
Martha worked hard for her entire life, but her most important job was caring for her family. She loved and cared for her husband who referred to her as “The Light of my Life.” He would have told you that there is no other woman on this Earth that compares to Martha! Her family in Lufkin had the honor of having her live there for the past 8 years where she was cared for by her granddaughter, Tara, whom shared a special bond. Martha will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her. Her friends and family in Heaven have begun celebrating that huge family reunion, and Martha has met the one whom she loved the most - Jesus.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Gonzales and Lisa Shelton; son, Lee Shelton and wife Carla; grandchildren, Tara Nichols, Chris and Gabriel Gonzales, Will Smotherman, Chip Smotherman and wife Jen, Kirstan Rutherford and husband Stephen, and Kaleb Shelton and wife Katie; great-grandchildren, Kenzie Dickerson and husband Tad, Ashley Smith and husband Jacob, and Aydan and Rylan Gonzales; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Dolph Shelton; her siblings; son-in-law, Joe Gonzales; and too many friends and relatives to count.
