Charles David Polk, age 69, of Jackson, GA passed away Sunday evening, October 23, 2016 at the Sylvan Grove Hospital. He was born in Atlanta July 26, 1947 son of the late Charlie Max Polk and Patricia Rossey Polk.
David graduated from Jackson High School in 1965. He went to Georgia Tech where he graduated in 1970. While there he was a talented football player. After graduation David served in the United States Army. David started the CDP Event Services where he provided security for Georgia Tech events, athletics and the Alex Cooley Electric Ballroom. He opened the Jackson Fitness Center and operated it for several years. He served as Secretary for the Georgia Tech Football and Basketball Alumni.
Survivors include his wife, Tandi Walden Polk; children, Penelope and John Herman, Ryan and Jennie Walden, Ragan and Blake Swearengin; grandchildren, Olivia and Jack Herman, Brady Walden, Jenna Lee, Landon and Victoria Swearengin; aunt, Audrey Halley and his favorite companion (Dog), Opus.
A memorial service for Charles David Polk will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Jackson United Methodist Church. Dr. Ed Hoard and Rev. Chris Shurtz will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service (10 11 AM).
