David Pickering Morse, age 70, husband of Janet (Knowlton) Morse with whom he shared 49 years of marriage, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at the NSMC | Salem Hospital.

Born in Berlin, NH, he was the son of the late Judson Pickering Morse and the late Elizabeth (Tarr) Morse. He was raised in Marblehead and had graduated from Holderness School in New Hampshire and Hamline University. He continued his education and graduated from Wentworth Institute.

He became a metallurgist and started DPM Associates, a consulting and materials installation company. He also started Sea Organics Fertilizer Company. He was a voted lifelong member of the Gerry No. 5 V.F.A. in Marblehead and was the chairman of the blood drive where he organized three drives a year for 21 years along with his loyal volunteers. He had also worked for the Marblehead YMCA taking care of the pool. Mr. Morse was also a member of the IMMS, the Marblehead VFW, the Elks and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are his two sons, David Pickering Morse, Jr and his wife Amy of Chestnut Hill and Benjamin Tarr Morse and his wife Ruby of Waikoloa, HI his four grandchildren, Ali and Emily of Chestnut Hill and Naia and Chad of Hawaii, and his faithful friend his cat Miss Tiger Lilly.

His funeral service will be held at the Dr. Arland A. Dirlam Chapel in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Burial is private. His celebration of life will continue in Hawaii. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross of the Northeast, 85 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960 or the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., NY, NY 10016 or to the Gerry Angel Fund, 210 Beacon St., Marblehead, MA 10945.
