Don Allen, affectionately known as Preacher Don, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 19, 2020. Cancer claimed his earthly body, but Jesus claimed his soul. We rejoice with him as he is united with loved ones and free of pain. A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 26, 2020 in the Post Oak Cemetery in Malakoff, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home in Lindale, Texas.

Don was born February 9, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Leota Mae Crider and John Veston Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by wife Brenda Biggs Allen of Lindale, Texas, Brother Mike “Whiskers” Allen and wife Denise of Malakoff, Texas. Also survived by his children, Kelly Don Allen and wife Melissa, Tina Bohannon-Temple and Michael Allen. His stepchildren Ashley Anne Harper and husband James, and Ross Allan Messer. His grandchildren left behind are Cody Allen and Cooper Allen, Caleb Harper and Jacob Harper. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Don graduated from McLain High school in 1961 and Tulsa Jr. College in 1972. Don was a Vietnam Veteran. He enlisted in the US Navy on 10-10-61 and was on the USS Braine. He was honorably discharged on 10-30-66. After the Navy he worked for Philips Petroleum on the Alaskan pipeline. He had many adventures in his past and managed to survive them all.
Brenda and Don got married on May 25, 1991 and celebrated 29 years together before he left for his eternal home. They moved to Lindale and established a home where he had his weld shop. He enjoyed team roping and riding horses and spent many years helping with 4H and FFA where he and Ashley shared their love of horses. Don traded in his horses for his Harley and became involved with Christian Motorcycle Association. He found Jesus during his time at Church in the Wind and also was ordained as a Baptist Minister on August 15, 2001 by Brother Denny Autry of FBC Lindale. He was a member of Bikers for Christ and found his passion in sharing Jesus with the lost and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

He was an honorable man and the most important thing to him was to know that he had made a complete change in his life when he gave his life to Jesus. His journey of hope, redemption, love and faith will continue to bring us joy. Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Lord.

Donations may be made to the Hospice of East Texas Homeplace, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, Texas 75701 or to the Church Under the Bridge, 215 W. Valentine Street, Tyler, Texas 75702.
