Virginia (Brees) Davis was born on Friday; April 17, 1925 in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. She was one of five children and the only daughter born to Sereno and Lottie May (Moore) Brees. She graduated from the Marshalltown High School's Class of 1943. On Sunday; December 2, 1945, she was united in marriage to William Davis in Marshalltown, Iowa. They made their home in Marshalltown where she worked at Fishers and Coopers before moving to Kansas, California and Nebraska before returning to Marshalltown and then being employed at Kresge's and Tru-Valu. Mrs. Davis was a member of the First Friends Church, the Mary Anna Circle of the church, served on many funeral and social lunch committees, the Red Hat Society and volunteered at the Marshall County Voting Polls. She treasured her family and enjoyed music- especially the orchestra and symphony, singing, sewing, playing bingo, and recently took up painting. Virginia was awarded Best in Show at the Marshall County Fair 2007 and also received many ribbons for other paintings.

Virginia (Brees) Davis, age 82, of Marshalltown, Iowa passed away on Friday afternoon; August 24, 2007 at the Grandview Heights while in their care and the Iowa River Hospice. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her children: Carol & her husband: Dennis Kirby of Malcom; Poweshiek County, Iowa. Laura & her husband: Larry Rinehart of Ankeny; Polk County, Iowa. Bill & his wife: Jan Davis of Liscomb; Marshall County, Iowa and Sue & her husband: Chad Fellmer of Cedar Falls; Black Hawk County, Iowa. Nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, her brothers: Frank & his wife: Marilyn Brees of Marshalltown, Iowa. Paul & his wife: Darlene Brees of Marshalltown, Iowa and James & his wife: Sally Brees of Detroit; Wayne County, Michigan. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. In death, she has rejoined her parents, her beloved husband of 61 years: William who died June 11, 2007 and a brother: Raymond Brees. May they rest in peace.
