Barbara Jean Dunsmore Burton, 85 years of age, of Somerset, departed this life on Thursday, June 25th, 2020.
Barbara was born on September 2nd, 1934, daughter of the late James and Ilene Sowder Dunsmore. Barbara's life was completely devoted to her husband, family, and Saviour. She and her husband prayed daily for her family. Barbara taught children's Sunday School class for several years at Somerset First Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member for more than 45 years. She was a member of the Lake Cumberland First Church of the Nazarene.
Barbara was survived by her loving husband of more than 67 years, John T. Burton; two sons, Larry (and Jenny) Burton and Gene (and Sandy) Burton, both of Somerset, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Heather Criswell of Somerset, Kentucky, Kim (and Mark) Denney of Eubank, Kentucky, Jason (and Kelly) Burton of London, Kentucky, and Matt (and Vanessa) Burton of Science Hill, Kentucky; seven great grandchildren, Madison Criswell, Connor Denney, Clara Denney, Andrew Burton, and Braxton Burton, Bryton Burton, and Benton Burton; and a host of other family and friends who mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dunsmore, who departed this life on September 28th, 1971 and Ilene Dunsmore, who departed this life on February 28th, 1981; one sister, Jessie Compton; and three brothers, James Dunsmore, Jr., Quinton Dunsmore, and Clyde Dunsmore.
Visitations were held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28th, 2020 and again from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29th, 2020 at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 29th, 2020 in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home.
Burial followed in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens Pulaski County, Kentucky.
