Melvin Oley Gipson, 65 of Rainelle, W. Va. was a son of the late Garland and Dollie Kenney Gipson. A retired coal miner, he was a member of the Big Sewell Baptist Church, Rainelle. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Cole Gipson; three daughters, Mabel Martin of Russellville, W. Va., Alma Bandy of Thomasville, N. C., Marguerite Cruse of McRoss, W. Va.; two sons, Paul of Arjay, Ky., and Harry of Layland, W. Va., five sisters, Francis Shortridge and Martie Shortridge both of Culpeper, Va., Virginia Haskman of Calif., Hallie Ward of Hilton Village, W. Va., and Myrtle Clendenion of Oak Hill; four brothers, Garland and Harold, both of Rainelle; Benton of Russellville and Huey of Spencer, W. Va,; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Burial in Sims Cemetery, Loops Road, Big Sewell Mountain.
