Pearl was the daughter of James Willie and Martha Ellen Webb, and the wife of Charley Clifton. She was one of fifteen children that grew up during the hard times in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. She was the big sister to my daddy that he counted on most. For year she and Charley Clifton hosted the Radford reunion, for the children of James Willie and Matha Webb Radford, at their castle on a hill in Salem Virginia. We visited there often, and were always welcomed with hugs, genuine smiles, and lots of talking about the many adventures experienced in their families. I often wished that I had been old enough to gather those stories into a book about their days in the Blue Ridge.
