Prinz Karl Anton von Hohenzollern was the third and youngest son of Leopold, Fürst von Hohenzollern, and his wife Infanta Antónia of Portugal. He was married in Brussels on May 28, 1894 to his first cousin, Princess Joséphine Caroline of Belgium, daughter of Prince Philippe, Comte de Flanders and his wife, Prinzessin Marie von Hohenzollern, by whom he had four children. They resided at Namedy Castle near Andernach. Prinz Karl Anton served as a Prussian Lieutenant-General during World War I and died after his return to Namedy.

He was originally interred at Namedy, but was later reinterred at the Erlöserkirche (Kloster Hedingen).
