Jesse Walton Hammond, 72, of Rogersville died today at ECM Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Whitehead Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Christopher officiating. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery under the direction of Spry Funeral Home. He was a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and a retired farmer. He is survived by his wife, Tera Josephine (Flanagan) Hammond; his sons, Amos Commodore Hammond and Berl Adolph Hammond, both of Rogersville, and Jefferson Eugene Hammond of Ypsilanti, Michigan; his daughters, Earline Velera Smith and Joicy Murphy, both of Florence, Edna Mae Bunch of Athens, Lura Yvonne Gibson of Hazel, Kentucky, and Sarah Garner of Huntsville; his brothers, Albert Moses Hammond and Jasper Calvin Hammond, both of Rogersville; his sisters, Mary Alice Smith and Sarah Ellen Eastep, both of Athens, and Eliza Ann "Lida" Pierce of Minor Hill, Tennessee; and twenty five grandchildren.
