Rev. Shepherd Halsey Werlein Jr. (1878-1936)(Vanderbilt M.A. c1900)(Harvard M.A. c1901)(Sewanee Div. c1910) was a Methodist minister in Jackson, Ms. and later moved to San Jose, Ca. He married in 1905, Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds (1885-), daughter of Dr. Dudley S. (1842-1915) and Mattie Bruce Reynolds (1854-1916), of Louisville, Ky. Their daughters were Sarah Elizabeth (1909-) and Mathilde Bruce Werlein (1912-).

Judge Ewing G. Werlein (1889-1975)(Tulane 1909, Law 1913) lived in Houston and was a judge on the court of civil appeals and district attorney for Harris County, Tx. He was a captain in WWI, 1917-18. He married in 1935, Evelyn Ruth Storey (1909-2009), daughter of Methodist minister Rev. Abraham Purcell (1880-1953) and Evelyn Jenkins Storey (1887-1970), of Houston, Tx. Their children are federal Judge Ewing, Jr., Elaine Leila, and Kittredge Werlein who is an attorney and financial and charitable consultant in Kerrville, Tx. He married Linda J.

Rev. Philip Prentiss Werlein (1893-1996)(Tulane c1914)(Oxford c1917) was an Episcopal minister in Houston and Baton Rouge. He was a Rhodes Scholar and an Army lieutenant in WWI. He married in 1927, Virginia Elizabeth Pearson (1902-2001)(UOre. c1923), daughter of Walter E. (1874-1941) and Virginia J. Pearson (1874-1943), of Portland, Or. Their four children were Virginia Leila (b.1928); Helen Louise (1931-62) who married Richardson and had a boy and girl in California; Phyllis Elizabeth (1933-99); and Dr. Halsey Werlein (193_-)(LSU PhD 19_) who was a French professor in Tennessee. He married and had a daughter. Virginia Leila Werlein (b.1928) lived in Germany and married Karl Wilhelm Geck. Their children are Phil Martin and Suzie Geck. Phyllis Elizabeth Werlein (1933-99) lived in Dallas and married Norman Budd (1931-2019). Their children are Philip Norman who is married and has two boys; Jamie Elizabeth who married Lemoine; and Helen Louise Budd who married Strickland.
