Abraham Bogart Conger was the son of John Smith Conger and Sarah Bogart. On Nov. 1, 1836 he married Mary Rutgers McCrea Hedges in New York City. They had 13 children and lived in Waldberg, Rockland Co. He was active in the town and donated land for the rail station and a school. Later Waldberg, NY was renamed Congers, NY in his honor. He was a lawyer by training and had an office at 20 Nassau St., NYC for many years. In 1851 he was elected a New York State Senator from Rockland Co. He was in practice briefly with his brother-in-law, Leander V.E. Robinson, in New York City around 1861-62. Around 1875 he and his wife divorced and there after he resided in NYC.
