Clara A. "Pete" Davis Parris, 96, of U.S. 74, Whittier, died Friday, May 27, 2005, at Skyland Care Center after a period of declining health.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, in the chapel of Melton-Riddle Funeral Home with the Rev. Rich Peoples officiating. Burial was in Franklin Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Christopher Childers, Michael Childers Jr., Carl A. Davis Jr., James Albert Davis, Samuel Thomas and Patrick Thomas.

A native of Hamilton County, Tenn., she had lived in Jackson County since 1928. She was a member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church and was a daughter of the late Mark and Phoebe Russell.

She was also preceded in death by two husbands, James T. Davis and Perry Parris; three brothers, Dewey, Wallace and George Russell; and three sisters, Anna Mae Renegar, Bessie Lee Shull and Viola Kull.

Surviving are one daughter, McAline Childers Shelton of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.

Memorials may be made to Long Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
