Pioneer Dead at Sherwood

Death of Samuel Steinbaugh [sic] Second in Family in 51 Years

Samuel Steinbaugh, well known retired farm of Irion county, died at 7 o'clock Friday morning at his home in Sherwood, after an illness lasting several months. He was 85 years of age and had lived in Irion county for thirty years.

Until the death here last March of Jonah Steinbaugh, son of the deceased, not a member of the Steinbaugh family had passed away in fifty-one years.

Samuel Steinbaugh was born in Mississippi [sic] and came to Texas in his youth. He leaves a widow, three sons and six daughters, as well as thirty-seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Burial was made in Sherwood Cemetery Saturday morning, services being conducted by Rev. N. D. Bullock, local Baptist missionary. The Charles A. Robinson Undertaking Company had charge of arrangements.
