John F. Downey, age 70, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, CT, beloved husband of Ann (Ohlin) Downey, died peacefully. Born in New Haven, CT, Mr. Downey was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. He was retired from Sikorsky Aircraft where he had worked for 44 years. John was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed camping and the great outdoors. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family and will be greatly missed. In addition to his wife, Ann, survivors include a daughter, Ann Downey; sons John Downey, Joseph Downey, Arthur Downey,Larry Downey and William Downey, all of Bridgeport, and Aaron Downey of Naugatuck. He leaves behind brothers, George Downey of Bridgeport, William Downey of Illinois, and Edward Downey of South Carolina. Eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Downey a daughter, Lucille Nemeth and a sister, Joyce Downey.
