He is survived by spouse, Betty Vigil Gallegos; siblings Max Gallegos, Labrie Madril, Cora Velasquez; children Alveda (James) Pero, Anthony (Jeannie) Gallegos, Kathy (Rudy) Medina, Doreen (Daniel) Correa, Gary (Amy) Gallegos; grandchildren Mary, Darlene and James Pero, Anthony and Geena Gallegos, Zachary Medina, Jeremy Gallegos, Lenisa Correa, and Nicholas and Brandon Gallegos, as well as great grandchildren A.J, Marcos, Rosado, Esai, Jaycee, Hayden, Mikayla, Gabryel II, Jeremy Jr, Jionni, Harper and Kane.

Abedon Oliver Gallegos moved to Las Tablas, NM at 7 years old and in 1948, at 17 entered the Army. He did not want to be drafted and made a point to join on his own. He chose to be deployed to the Pacific where he was honorably discharged as a Corporal after 3 years during the Korean War. During this time, he was considered MIA and presumed dead for 15 days after his platoon, the 24th Division, 19th Regiment, C-Company, was demolished. He was also a part of the 1st battle at Kŭm River in South Korea. He spent 11 months on the frontline and was also stationed in Japan and California throughout his time in the Army. He lived in several places including Japan for 3 years, Korea for 1 year, San Francisco, Fort Bliss/El Paso, TX, back to Las Tablas, NM, Clearfield, UT for a job at a naval base then moved to Del Norte and Leadville finally settling in Red Cliff where he met and married Betty and raised their family. He moved to Denver in 1980.
